Flour & Ash at Bambalan - our latest collaboration

It's been a rough year for all of us in hospitality, and it's been devastating to see the impact the pandemic has had on some of our fellow independents in Bristol, with several venues having no choice but to shut up shop. One of those businesses was the beloved Flour & Ash, a stalwart of the Bristol food scene for six years, who'd been serving up their award winning sourdough, wood-fired pizzas from their restaurant on Cheltenham Road. They closed their doors in the Summer and we, like much of the city, were gutted to see them go. So we're VERY excited to announce that we've teamed up with F&A founder Steve Gale to bring them back, with our latest collaboration - Flour & Ash at Bambalan!

Rising from the ashes...

Flour & Ash/Bambalan will be bringing Steve’s famous pizzas to Bambalan, cooked in our wood-fired oven, and you can now order delivery via Deliveroo or click and collect throughout lockdown. The new menu has been created collaboratively by Steve and our very own executive chef, Todd Francis, and features some of Flour & Ash’s signature favourites as well as some new creations and some Bambalan ‘twists’. There are also bottled cocktails available on Deliveroo from our award winning Hyde & Co bartenders.

Speaking about the collab our founder Nathan said:

“We were all huge fans of Flour & Ash from the moment they opened their doors, so it was incredibly sad to see them close. We’ve wanted to collaborate with Steve on something new for a while so this seemed like the perfect opportunity to work on something together. Bambalan has a great wood fired oven so we thought we’d work on a pizza menu to sit alongside our regular Bambalan favourites when we are allowed to reopen and it felt like a natural fit to ask Steve and our exec chef Todd to develop a menu that showcased the best of both venues. Covid has forced us to be creative in some ways so it’s great to see something positive come from a difficult period.”

“It was a sad day when Covid-19 closed the doors on Flour & Ash. However the Bristol food scene is a supportive, creative and resilient beastie and we are over the moon that the legendary team from Bambalan has helped us rise again from the ashes. This is to be a true collaboration, so expect to see some signature pizzas from the Flour & Ash greatest hits catalogue, some new stuff and some Bambalan flavour thrown into the mix. We cannot wait to start cooking for you Bristol."

Flour & Ash at Bam will be offering delivery through Deliveroo and click and collect from Bambalan from Tuesday 26th January and will be open for orders from 4pm - 10pm seven days a week, operating within Bambalan’s Covid-safe policies.
